Old transport tickets recovered from the streets of Madrid during 2017 and 2018. Each of these tickets has been used by a traveller, folded, torn, broken, forming ladders, curls, paper aeroplanes, pyramids, aged by the footsteps of other travellers, by the rain and the sun. They are now part of the city’s archaeology, and each one bears the mark of a passenger, just as the journey is a passenger, just as life is a passenger.
Each lost ticket tells a fleeting story of journeys and destinations, of dreams and hopes that were once in motion. Captured in their abandoned solitude, these tickets become silent witnesses to the countless travellers who cross paths in the tumult of the metropolis. Like little treasures discovered on the pavement, these fragments of paper invite us to reflect on the fleeting nature of time and the constant transformation of lives that, like passengers, are also in transit, seeking their way through the urban labyrinth.
